About Pashupatinath Temple
The main pagoda-style temple, with its gilded roof and silver doors, is open only to Hindus, but visitors can watch the riverside ghats from the opposite bank, where open-air cremations take place. The complex also includes hundreds of shrines, lingams and the homes of sadhus. It is part of the Kathmandu Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The temple draws huge crowds during the Maha Shivaratri festival in February or March. It is about 1 km from Boudhanath and close to Tribhuvan International Airport.
