About Durbar Square Patan
The square faces the old royal palace of the Malla kings, which now houses the Patan Museum, one of the best museums in South Asia for Hindu and Buddhist art. In front stand the stone Krishna Mandir and a row of pagoda temples. Patan is known for metalwork and woodcarving, and the backstreets hide courtyards and the Golden Temple (Kwa Bahal).
It is part of the Kathmandu Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site, about 5 km south of central Kathmandu. See the Lalitpur city map.
