About Boudhanath Stupa
The great white dome, topped by a gilded tower painted with the eyes of the Buddha, is circled clockwise by pilgrims spinning prayer wheels, especially in the early morning and evening. More than 50 monasteries surround it, many founded by Tibetan refugees. The stupa was damaged in the 2015 earthquake and has been restored.
Boudhanath is part of the Kathmandu Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rooftop cafes around the square give the best views.
