Essential Information
Thorong La Pass Crossing
The highlight and challenge of the circuit is crossing Thorong La Pass (5,416m). Most trekkers start early (4-5 AM) from Thorong Phedi or High Camp to reach the pass by mid-morning before weather deteriorates. The descent to Muktinath is long but rewarding.
Road Development
Roads now reach several points on the circuit, shortening the traditional route. Many trekkers drive to Dharapani or beyond on the eastern side. On the western side, jeeps connect Jomsom to Pokhara.
Best Time to Trek
Autumn (Oct-Nov): Most popular season with stable weather and clear views
Spring (Mar-May): Warmer temperatures, rhododendrons in bloom
Monsoon: Not recommended due to heavy rainfall and landslide risk
