About Rara Lake
The lake is surrounded by pine, spruce and juniper forest with snow-capped peaks beyond, and a trail circles it in a day. Rara National Park is the smallest national park in Nepal and one of the least visited, partly because of the long journey.
Most visitors fly from Nepalgunj to Talcha airport, about a 3-hour walk from the lake, or travel overland via Surkhet and Jumla.
